We believe that everybody has the ability to learn, but not everyone learns the same way.

That’s why we take an individualised, strength-based approach to skill-building that honours individual preference, sensory needs, communication styles, learning style, and goals.

Who is it for?
Ages 2 to 30

What is the format?

  • Individualised skill development programs designed and supervised by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst.

  • Delivered 1:1 with a therapy assistant.

  • Can be done at HYPE*, at home, at school, at daycare, at work or in the community (pretty much, where ever suits you!)

What is skill-building support?

To navigate everyday life, each of us pulls from a toolkit of skills that help us manage tasks, overcome obstacles and interact with the world around us. 

For young people with disability, they may find the process of learning and integrating new skills more difficult, have trouble adapting their skills to new environments or accessing these skills in situations where external pressures are causing stress.  

That doesn’t mean you can’t do it – it just means we need to use a different approach that takes your unique learning style into account.

Our approach to skill-building

Learning a new skill isn’t just about practice—it’s about understanding all the little things that can help or get in the way. When we don’t take time to unpack those pieces, it’s easy to feel stuck or frustrated.

At HYPE*, we do things differently.

Before we dive into learning, we take a step back and look at the full picture—your environment, your regulation, and the teaching strategies that will work best for you. This helps us clear away barriers you might not even know are there, so you’re already set up for success.

We start by focusing on regulation - because feeling calm, safe, and ready is the foundation for learning anything new. From there, we use evidence-based strategies tailored to your unique strengths, needs, and goals.

Throughout the journey, we check in regularly, track your progress, and make adjustments to keep things working for you.

We want to know what matters to you - what you want to learn, and how you want to get there. Then we’ll co-create a plan that’s fun, engaging, and totally personalised.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about building skills—it’s about building your confidence, your independence, and reaching your goals.

HYPE* skill-building support program can help develop the skills that make it easier to reach your goals and achieve the things that are important to you.

This could include things like going to new places, learning how to regulate your emotions, getting a job, making friends or being more independent at home.

We focus on instilling self-belief at every step, emphasising the positive and celebrating your wins because we know that promotes better progress and helps new skills stick.

Once you achieve some small wins, you start to see what is possible and your world can become bigger.

We’ll look at how to build your goals and strategies into everyday life. We’ll also help the people around you understand how they can best support you to reinforce your awesome new abilities!
